Description: Although the theories of forged iron design have not changed through the years, Mr. Miura’s latest design, the CB 301, has redefined weight distribution within the head. His concept is simple: Pull the center of gravity in towards the hosel, and move more weight out towards the toe. Each has a different effect on the iron. | |
The first makes the head close more rapidly and the second slows it down. By working with the ratio between these two opposing forces, Mr. Miura is able to control the way the club face closes. This particular grind blends these two forces so that the club head squares more easily. It allows for a more fluid swing as opposed to a guarded effort to guide the club. With the best quality control in the industry, Miura Golf is the only company that can pull this off in a forged iron. The CB-301 irons are made from mild steel and feature a W nickel (satin) chrome finish. Available in a right hand only 3-PW, P/S (gap) nine iron set for $1,245. |

Review: We found many similarities between the CB-301 irons and their sibling, the CB-201 irons. As were the CB-201 irons, the CB-301 irons were found to be very accurate. At alignment, golfers will see a very traditional look and minimal offset that sits up well behind the ball. We were able to easily shape and control shots with these irons. We found the CB-301s to be as long as other player type irons. The lofts are traditional but this did not seem to affect the length. We found the trajectory of the ball flight to be similar to the CB-201 irons and we were able to hit a variety of shots. The irons were easy to control and provided a repeatable, boring, medium ball flight. The feel of these irons are like all Miura products that we have reviewed, soft and very responsive to a good swing. A nice crisp click at impact adds to the incredible feel. As we have said before, the aura around these irons within the industry is well deserved and golfers that desire the best feel in the industry should look no further than Miura. We found the CB-301 irons to be more forgiving than the CB-201 irons. As were the CB-201 irons, the CB-301 irons are as forgiving if not more than the majority of the forged players irons available today. With the CB-301 iron, Miura has gone to new stampings and a new logo. We feel that the new look is an improvement and the clean lines and satin finish make this one of the best looking cavity back irons on the market. Golfers with traditional tastes will appreciate the look. Miura Golf continues to be a rising star in the golf industry. The quality and feel of Miura irons are excellent and we found the CB-301 irons to continue this tradition. As we have mentioned before, if you currently play forged irons and are looking to upgrade your set, you should seriously consider any of the irons within the Miura lineup. With the recent announcement of the MB-102 and CB-202 irons to their lineup, they now offer different iron models that will appeal to a wide range of golfer profiles and preferences. We give the Miura CB-301 forged cavity back irons high marks for feel, quality, looks and overall playability.
