The Putting Arc is a putting training aid based upon ancient mathematics that uses fundamental geometrical information about the body, golf swing, and the nature of putting to prove the most effective putting stroke is not “straight back and straight through” but a more elliptical and “open to close” stroke. The Putting Arc was designed for golfers to learn a putting stroke that with minimal moving parts and a rotary motion around a specific point on the golfer’s spine. It can be used indoors and out and with or without a golf ball. The Putting Arc is available in three different models; the original Deluxe ($89.95), the MSIII ($69.95), and the T3 ($34.95).

Comments on Use:

The Putting Arc is one of the best putter training aids we have reviewed to date. The philosophy and mathematics behind it are very solid. It is well made with three different versions to accomodate a variety of golfers needs. It will assist golfers in the following ways:

  • Pendulum Stroke. The Putting Arc promotes a pendulum like shoulder rotation in the putting stroke. We found that with repeated use, it does a good job of engraining muscle memory and minimizes manipulation of the hands or arms during the stroke.
  • Alignment. The Putting Arc addresses alignment issues in the putting stroke. One of our reviewers had formed a bad habit of aiming a ball out to the right on an 8-foot putt. This habit only worsened the longer the putt. Using The Putting Arc daily has enabled him to trust his stroke more by enabling proper alignment on short and long putts.
  • Face Angle. The Putting Arc utilizes a 5 point system to check face angle and we found this to be of great assistance in the putting stroke. The system immediately identified a flaw in one of our reviewer's stroke that has a tendency to close the toe trough impact. The Putting Arc corrected this issue after only a few days of use.
  • Confidence. Over the course of two weeks, we used The Putting Arc daily for 20-30 minutes. First, we worked on the stroke without a ball checking the face angle at the 5 points throughout the stroke. Next, we putted 25 8-foot putts using the training aid. We found that it is virtually impossible to miss if the heel of the putter stays in contact with The Putting Arc. It's a great confidence boost to watch 25 straight putts go in. Lastly, we putt 25 balls without the aid to confirm the newly engrained stroke.

Summary:

The Putting Arc is one of the best putting training aids on the market today. We give it high marks for overall concept and ease of use. We highly recommend it to golfers of all abilities that struggle with their putting. The use of The Putting Arc over an extended period of time will result in a consistent and repeatable putting stroke. The Putting Arc comes with a descriptive manual explaining the concept and design as well as gives you several drills to do. It also comes with a mini CD-ROM disc containing a 9 minute video that is also very informative. If you struggle with your putting and are looking for a new stroke, we highly recommend The Putting Arc.
