Improvement Area: Putting |
Rating: - Very Useful |
Description: |
The Cameron Cube was designed
by Scotty Cameron based upon years of research in his Putter Studio.
The Cameron Cube is a new training aid designed to improve your
putting stroke. Improper path of the putter head is a common flaw
identified in poor putting performance. Scotty Cameron has designed
a training aid that addresses this problem. The device is a clear
piece of plastic with a hole in it that attaches to the face of
your favorite putter. Using a regular golf ball, you put the ball
in the hole of the device as it is attached to the face of the
putter. You then take your normal putting stroke. An improper path
will show up with this device. A path that is too far outside will
send the ball to the left while a path that is too far inside will
send the ball to the right. The device also ensures that you keep
the putter head low to the ground on takeaway as well as forces
you to follow through correctly. Currently available on the Scotty
Cameron website priced at $28.95.
Comments on Use:
The first thing you notice about the Cube is its simplicity. It
is a piece of plastic with a hole in it held onto the face of your
putter with double-sided tape.
- We were a bit apprehensive
at first about taping something
to our putters but the tape works
great and leaves little or no residue
that can be easily removed. It
comes with plenty of strips of
tape as well.
- The Cube provides instant path
feedback indicating whether the
putter head has been taken too
far inside or outside the line.
- The Cube requires you to release
the right hand and follow through
well in order to generate a consistent
roll. These are two of the most
common faults in putting.
- The main thing you have to
get used to when using the Cube
is the target (golf ball) moves
with the putter as you start your
backstroke. To offset that we recommend
focusing on a spot directly underneath
the ball and releasing the right
hand at that point. This also ensures
that the head stays still through
the impact point.
- Using 5-10 minutes a day, we
have noticed immediate improvement,
especially on putts inside of 6
feet.
- The Cube comes with an instruction
card that indicates how and where
to attach the putter and provides
instructions for use and analysis
of the results.
Summary:
The Cameron Cube is a simple solution for improving your
putter path. The device works as advertised providing immediate
feedback. We liked the fact that you can use it with your
personal putter and on the putting green with relative
ease. The price is on the high side at $29 but the Cube
does work and your putter path will become consistent with
continued use. That is easily worth the price and then
some.
