Review: Graphite Design has once again offered a premium shaft with superb performance. We installed a stiff flex Tour AD YS-Q 65 into a Titleist 905R 9.5 degree driver and a regular flex Tour AD YS-Q 65 in a Titleist 905R 10.5 degree for testing purposes. One thing that we always notice when hitting a Graphite Design shafted club is that no shaft is too hard to swing. It's about finding which one offers the best performance across your game including launch angle, ball speed, and control. The YS-Q shaft as compared to the Pershing shaft that we have tested, offers comparable results with regards to trajectory, distance and feel. We found the Tour AD YS-Q to be better in controlling shot dispersion and accuracy. Feel wise, we felt that the Tour AD YS-Q might be a touch stiffer at the tip but not so much that trajectory or feel are lessened. The overall feel of this shaft, on center hits as well as toe and heel hits, is incredible. It provides a soft feel at impact but with tremendous ball speed. Graphite Design shafts have always performed like a uniflex shaft in that it performs at whatever speed you want to swing the club. Some OEM shafts you have to swing at or above a certain speed to get consistent results. That is not the case with the YS-Q shaft. Smooth swings or ones where we went after it a little, the shaft performed ideal in either case. It provided confidence before every tee shot. We highly recommend this shaft for looks, feel, and performance. The Tour AD YS-Q shafts are also available in fairway and hybrid versions.
