Setup & Alignment |
|
|
The Mil-Spec putter is easy to setup and align. The combination
of the offset hosel and alignment aid allows the club head
to set up squarely behind the ball. The putter is available
in three lies (flat, standard, upright) and four lengths
ensuring a proper fit and adding to the ease of setup. |
|
Feel |
|
|
Very firm like the rest of the Pro Platinum line. The nickel
plated finish provides a nice crisp click when striking most
premium golf balls. The Mil-Spec lines comes with choice
of four different head weights (320g/36", 330g/35",
340g/34", and 350g/33"). The heavy head provides
a very solid feel minimizing head twisting at impact. |
|
Performance |
|
|
An above average performer all around. The heavy head make
short putts easier by promoting a square take away and follow
through. The putter proved to be consistent on longer putts
once necessary adjustments are made to the head weight. |
|
Looks
|
The Mil-Spec is based on the Scotty Cameron
Newport 2 model with a standard hosel length. The design
is similar to the Ping Anser family. The topline is slightly
wider and the length is a little longer. The Mil-Spec features
the platinum nickel finish and milled face.

Summary |
Titleist has a winner in this line of putters.
The ability for golfers to select a shorter length putter
yet maintain the head weight gives the Mil-Spec an advantage
over several competing models. As golfers continue to realize
the benefit of custom fitting, even in their putters, we
will see more and more custom options available in the putter
market. The Newport/Anser design is one of the all-time classics
and proves time and again to be the most playable design
in golf. The Mil-Spec putter will appeal to golfers of all
handicaps that are looking for a high-end putter with a choice
of custom options suited to their preferences. Suggested
retail pricing for the Mil-Spec line is $275. Additional
