Heavy Putter Matte Series

Manufacturer's Description:
The Heavy Putter Matte Series by Boccieri Golf features the company’s original, patented weighting technology with a dark gray finish head combined with satin finished shaft and custom grip. The series features three blade models and three mallet models. Given the overall weight of the Heavy Putter, the body instinctively knows to activate its larger more stable muscles to perform the putting stroke, resulting in a more consistent path for precise direction and improved distance control. An additional, 250-gram Weight Management System (WMS) hidden in the grip section raises the Heavy Putter’s balance point 75 percent further up the shaft than conventional putters, which makes the center of balance of the golfer and the putter closer together. Narrowing the distance between the center of balance of the golfer and the putter increases the putter’s stability throughout the stroke. The adjustable tip weights allow individuals to fine tune the balance point for an optimal and consistent release through impact. The perimeter weighting and increased mass in the head prevents the putter from twisting on off-center hits, making the Heavy Putter one of the most forgiving putters in the world. In addition to the Weight Management System, Heavy Putters incorporates several advanced-design principles in putters; CNC milled from 304 Stainless Steel, a very soft metal that creates a soft putting feel; perimeter heel-to-toe weighting, creating a high moment of inertia (resistance to twisting) for better distance control, and straighter and more accurate putts; face-balanced heads that make it easier to square the putter head at impact; diamond-cut, patterned faces that optimize the golf ball's roll and impart a soft feel at impact; and "Surround Sight" semi-circle alignment aids — exclusive to the Heavy Putter — located behind the face promote on-center hits and a tighter deviation of sweet spot impact versus lines or dots. The Matte Series putters have a suggested retail price of $199, including an adjustable tip-weight kit..

Heavy Putter Matte Series Review:

The Heavy Putter burst onto the scene in 2005 and has really done well since its inception. The original offerings featured a shiny polished finish that at times created glare on those cloudless summer days. In 2006, Heavy Putter introduced a non polished look to reduce glare and provide a nice contrast at address. The B3 M is just one of 6 models that make up the Heavy Putter lineup.

The first thing that grabs your attention is the putter’s weight. As its name implies it really is heavy but that was done by design. Weight has been added in the grip end and throughout the shaft of the club and there are interchangeable weights on the putter head itself to dial in the ideal fit and feel. The standard weight worked perfect for our reviewers after trying different combinations. The feel of the putter at impact is excellent. With the added weight, the distance loss on mis-hits is minimal. Because of the added weight on both ends, it almost forces a very smooth takeaway and follow through. The added weight also adds consistency at impact reducing twisting as the putter head stays very stable through the ball.

The mallet version has two cutaway holes in the back slightly smaller than an actual golf ball to aid with alignment. Our reviewers really liked this feature especially on the shorter putts where alignment is so critical. This putter would be great for someone with a very quick or jabby stroke that involves mostly hands. In order to use this putter effectively, you must use the bigger muscles in the putting stroke which in turn will make you a more consistent putter. We give the Heavy Putter Matte Series putter high marks for looks, feel, and design. The concept really works.
