Nike Slingshot Tour
Nike Slingshot Tour irons, 3-PW, True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shafts, Nike Slingshot grips.

Manufacturer's Description
The Slingshot Tour irons were co-developed with assistance from several Nike Golf sponsored PGA Tour staff members. They are targeted for players who prefer a classic iron profile packed with modern technology.  Contrary to the original Slingshot and Slingshot OSS irons, the distinctive Slingback design in the Slingshot Tour irons is not as visible in the playing position. This shallower Slingback design along with minimal offset, allows for more shot-shaping creativity. These more traditional irons feature a Custom 455 face material with a thinner top-line. To enhance feel, the Slingshot Tour irons' body is made of 431 stainless steel which is 25% softer than the more commonly used 17-4 stainless steel. These irons come with Dynamic Gold Shafts by True Temper. Available in Men's: #3-PW, Individual Irons: #2, RH Only, Steel - (X100, S300, R300) SRP: $799.99 set; Individual: $99.99

Nike Slingshot Tour Review:
We had reviewed the original Slingshot irons when they first came out and felt they were one of the best game improvement irons available at that time. We liked the concept of the Slingshot Tour irons from the start - an iron packed with game improvement technology but with a more compact head, subtle offset, and a clean look at address. The Slingshot Tour irons did not disappoint.

The Slingshot Tour irons set up squarely at address. The clubs feature a thick wide sole and come standard with the True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shaft producing a heavier feel that the original Slingshots and Nike's NDS irons. The feel is, in a single word, SOLID. We found these clubs to be solid throughout the set. The feel is definitely that of a cast iron but it wasn’t harsh. We were able to produce left-to-right and right-to-left shots with these irons. They are not as workable as a set of blades or player cavity back irons but they could be worked. They produce consistent results on good and bad swings alike. We were able to dial the yardage in on them quickly. Distance-wise, we found the Slingshot Tours to be a little longer than the irons we have played as of late including the NDS irons. The trajectory can be characterized as medium to high. They were slightly higher than those produced by blade and player cavity back irons. The Slingshot Tours were found to offer moderate forgiveness. While not as forgiving as their Slingshot OSS siblings, the Slingshot Tours still offer considerable forgiveness. We knew where the ball was going on our off-center hits and we found that they were consistent in this regard. We like the thick wide sole of the Slingshot Tour irons instilling confidence in the long irons and allowing us to attack pins with the short irons. The head feels very stable at impact with minimal twisting on off-center hits. We contribute this effect to the sole design although it could have been that these clubs just suit us. It was no problem getting the ball airborne with the Slingshot Tours. The irons maintain the "original" Slingshot look but with subdued offset and a compact head and lines that will appeal to better and more discriminating players.

We give the Nike Slingshot Tour irons high marks for playability, looks, and forgiveness. We recommend that better golfers looking for additional forgiveness or lower handicap golfers that can’t get out and practice as much as they need to seriously consider what the Nike Slingshot Tours have to offer: forgiveness and performance in a club that has clean lines at address with moderate offset. Those golfers looking for additional forgiveness, and offset need to consider the Slingshot OSS model.
