Accuracy |
With a 45" shaft, control can be difficult unless consistently
hit on the sweetspot. Trimmed shaft to 44.5" and control
and accuracy increased with minimal distance loss. |
Distance |
This club offers more
than adequate distance. Low handicap players will produce
greater distance with the 45" shaft without affecting
the club's accuracy. |
Trajectory |
The club produces a boring
ball flight with the lofts performing close to the lofts
of metal or wooden woods. Does not have "ballooning" problems
the way many titanium drivers do. |
Feel |
Very solid with a subtle sound at impact.
Forgiveness |
Not as forgiving as other oversized drivers
on the market. Targeted toward low to middle handicap players.
Looks |
Titanium deep faced head with volume of 260
cc, pear shaped, bore through shaft, subtle gray finish,
DCI logo as alignment aid, traditional as in wooden woods
from the past, size is deceiving. |
Summary:
The Titleist 975D driver
is among the best looking and most accurate drivers available today.
The classic looks and persimmon feel of this driver will appeal
to low handicap golfers. The custom fit hosel feature of this driver
is unique among competing manufacturers and puts Ping out front
of the pack. The Select stock shaft is an above average performing
shaft. We were not very impressed with the performance of the Ultralight
shaft. Several high performance shafts are available as options.
Recommend testing out several options prior to purchasing. More
information on Titleist and their entire product lineup can be
found on their website at www.titleist.com.
