Summary:

First off let me say that I love Rosaforte's style of writing
in this book as well
as in his articles in Golf World magazine. Most of the time
he just states the facts and quotes from certain
players and then let's
you decide for yourself what they may or may not have meant
by them.
Although not a huge Tiger
fan, I thoroughly enjoyed
reading "Raising the Bar".
The first 150 pages or
so were reminiscent of "The Making
of a Champion" which Rosaforte wrote in 1996. There were
some great quotes though
that I had not seen before
as the author takes you through Tiger's junior day's in golf
up through 1999
and his early years on
the PGA Tour. The last
150 pages take you through the 2000, 9 win, season that Tiger
just had and
gets you inside each
and every tournament
he participated in. You learn a good deal about "Butchie",
Butch Harmon, and why their relationship
works and you can see
the maturation of Tiger from 1996 to the present. This section
of the book
is also filled with some
awesome quotes which
I really enjoy reading.
Tiger has definitely "raised the
bar" since turning
pro in 1996. He's made
the game more profitable for everyone and he's caused many of
the top players in the world to rededicate
themselves so they can
compete with him each week. It's already paying dividends for
guys like DL III, Phil Mickelson and Brad
Faxon. I think it will
be a great year on tour in 2001 because of the standard Tiger
set last year.
