Summary:
|
Founded by Eddie Darrell in 1932, The Darrell Survey interviews
thousands of consumer and professional golfers every year. With
the Golf Equipment Almanac 2000 consumer resource guide, The
Darrell Survey Company now brings this interesting data to the
golfing public. The book takes an in-depth look at the brands
and models used on all the professional tours as well as the
average consumer. The book has chapters on each of the following:
balls, irons, wedges, drivers, fairway woods, putters, bags,
gloves, shoes, and shirts. For each category, the book provides
an introduction and trend data then addresses consumer usage
and consumer satisfaction opinions in easy to read tables. The
book does not indicate the specific brands and models that golfing
professionals play on tour. It also does not provide reviews
of any of the equipment listed. Sample data found in this book:
1) On the Japan Tour, less than 20 percent of the golfers have
gone to soft spikes compared to more than 50 percent on the
PGA Tour. 2) In the iron category on the PGA Tour, Titleist
was number one in wins, while Mizuno was number one is usage.
An eight-page glossary contains all the terms you need to know
when discussing golf equipment. This book is a “must have” resource
for those golfers who are interested in the details of golf
equipment.
