I Call The Shots

Information:
Author: Johnny Miller
Category: General
Target Audience: All golfers

Summary:

Johnny Miller holds little back in writing "I Call the Shots". He makes some very bold statements throughout and is very critical of players from his generation as well as current ones. Two things that I commend him on are one, dedicating a whole chapter to mistakes he made in the booth which deals with comments he wished he'd never said. That took a good dose of humility. Secondly, he is very outspoken about his faith which is great to see. Miller’s arrogance also comes through in this book. He talks about himself whenever he gets the chance. He refers to his great round of 63 at Oakmont in almost every chapter.  This was a great accomplishment but it is overly referenced in this book.  There are many other times his accolades are brought up as well.  He dedicates a chapter to rules that he feels need to be changed and discusses why. We tend to agree with him in most cases. The legacy he feels he left the tour may surprise you but then again, it is Miller at his best, telling it like he sees things and calling it his way. Overall the book is a very interesting and entertaining read. It is thought provoking and very well written. If you love golf, no doubt you'll enjoy this book.
