Ashworth Apparel Review:

Quality (consistency)
We feel that the overall quality of Ashworth is good. Over time, however, we have noticed the difference in the quality of some items. For example, the main differences we found in polo shirts are the inconsistencies of sizes between the geographic manufacturing locations. Sizes are more consistent with shirts made in the same general location (i.e., USA, Canada, Mexico). We suggest that consumers try each item on for that reason as a "Large" made in Sri Lanka may fit totally different than a "Large" made in the USA. The size inconsistencies are not as apparent in other apparel items although we have not reviewed these items as much as we have the shirts.
Feel (light, heavy, soft)
Generally, the Ashworth blends can be worn year round. The thickness does not vary too much and the mercerized items can be worn comfortably with or without a t-shirt underneath.
Price (value, worth)
Ashworth apparel made in the United States is worth the price, although we feel that the price is inflated at the major department stores. The appropriateness of the pricing really depends on where it is made. We feel that the items made in Sri Lanka or Macau are cheaply made yet reflect the same pricing as those made in the United States.
Wearability (fade,shrinkage,durability)

Once again, the items made within the United States seem to wash and wear better. We found that they don't shrink or fade nearly as bad as those made outside the United States. That being said, we have found some of the non United States shirts to wear well and last a long time. It is a matter of consistency.

Summary:
We were a big proponent of Ashworth when they started out in 1987 catering to green grass accounts and only making things in the United States. Ashworth was the coolest of cool golf apparel. One look at the "golfman" logo on the chest and everyone new that you were into golf. In 1997, Ashworth began going over seas for much of their production. At this time, we started to see some of the inconsistencies noted above. We are much more particular about the items we purchase starting with double checking the label to see where it is made. We have been discouraged upon finding a particular style of shirt and then feeling like we are gambling with our purchase because of where it was made. Fortunately, they still make some of their apparel in the Unites States. It is sometimes hard to find but the Ashworth brand is still worth the price and they have yet to be dethroned as the king of golf apparel.
