Titleist Tour Model Irons

The following is a chronological history of the Titleist Tour Model irons. They were first introduced in 1979 and last offered to the public in 1994. All Tour Model irons are forged from carbon steel and continue to be popular with low handicap amateurs and collectors alike.
Year Description
1979-1980 Tour Model. Features double muscle back, iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on rounded flanged sole, "Titleist" script in middle of muscle back, and "FORGED" in upper case letters near heel. Available finish: high gloss chrome. Distinguishing feature: knurled hosel (1980); smooth hosel (1979).
1981-1982 Tour Model. Features double muscle back, iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on sole, "FORGED" in upper case letters near toe on back; two rings on the hosel. Available finish: high gloss chrome.
1982-1983 Tour Model Square Toe. Features double muscle back, iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on sole, "FORGED" in upper case letters near toe on back and "SQUARE TOE" in upper case letters near the top line; two rings on the hosel. Available finish: high gloss chrome.
1983 Tour Model. Features muscle back with squared off toe, iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on flanged cambered sole, and "Titleist" script in middle of muscle back. Available finish: high gloss chrome.
Tour Model 821. Limited edition. Same design and features as regular Tour Model but with "821" stamping on back near top line and tour preferred grinds and offered only with True Temper Dynamic steel shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet cord grips.
1984 Tour Model. Features round muscle back merging into thin top line with iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on sole and "Titleist" script in middle of muscle back. Available finish: high gloss chrome. Distinguishing feature: wood dowel pins in hosel.
Tour Model 841. Limited edition. Same design and features as regular Tour Model but with "841" stamping on muscle back with tour preferred grinds and offered only with True Temper Dynamic steel shafts and Golf Pride Victory grips.
1985 Tour Model. Features round muscle back merging into thin top line with iron number and "Titleist" script on sole, "Titleist" script in middle of muscle back, "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on back near top line directly under "Titleist" stamping; two rings on the hosel; two versions produced, one with diamonds on face at ends of scoring line grooves and one without the diamonds. Available finishs: high gloss chrome and satin; Satin model has "S" stamped on hosel.
1987 Tour Model Box Blade. Features smooth muscle back merging into thin top line with iron number and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on sole, "Titleist" script in middle of muscleback, and "BOX BLADE" in upper case letters on back near top line; two rings on the hosel. Available finish: high gloss chrome.
1986-1990 Tour Model. Features a groove on the muscle back with iron number and "Titleist" script on sole, "Titleist" script in middle of muscleback, and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on its back near top line; two rings on the hosel; diamonds on face at ends of scoring line grooves. Available finish: high gloss chrome (1986-1990); satin (1986).
1991-1994 Tour Model. Features raised muscle back with iron number and "Titleist" script on sole, "Titleist" script in middle of muscleback, and "TOUR MODEL" in upper case letters on its back near top line; two rings on the hosel. Available finish: high gloss chrome.
