American Putter Review:

Setup & Alignment

Hard-Avg-Easy

We have found center shafted putters to be among the easiest putters to align on the market simply because the shaft goes right into the head at the point of impact. The American Putter is no exception. The sole of the putter has a flat area which really makes the putter easy to align at setup. It also prevents the putter from turning closed or laying open. We found that it is best to position the ball in the center of your stance with these types of putters.
Feel

Soft-Avg-Crisp

Feel is very dependent on the type of ball being played. In this review, we used the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and found that with the non-insert version of the American Putter, the ball comes off the face soft but with nice click sound to it. The brass insert version of the putter provided a softer feel than the non-insert version. The aluminum version of the putter provided a more hollow sound at impact.
Performance

Less-Avg-More

Very forgiving. The one tendency I've seen with the center shafted putters is that when you hit a ball towards the toe (above the center shaft) or heel (below the center shaft) you get a hook or cut result. I didn't notice that at all with this putter. Just solid all the way around. Distance control was a bit of a problem because of the putter being lighter than my present putter. I am putting with a putter that is weighted in the head and counter-balanced in the butt end. This causes it to swing more like a pendulum than a lighter putter will. I had to apply some force on longer putts instead of just letting the putter swing, and this caused some inconsistencies.
Looks

The American Putters are 100% milled from stainless steel with unparalled craftsmanship. The milled markings on the face are uniform and flawless giving the putter an expensive look. The putter's symmetrical scoop back, subtle black site line on the flange, block letter stampings, and clean lines provide an apperance that is simple yet elegant.

Summary
The American Putters offer the look and feel of an expensive putter but with a price that allows golfers to not worry about using it as their everyday putter. With high quality and performance, this putter is a great value. We have putted extensively with the Odyssey White Hot Center Shaft, Never Compromise Center Shaft, and the latest Center Shaft model from Scotty Cameron and found that the look and feel of the American Putters was better than the Odyssey and Never Compromise models and as good as the Scotty Cameron model. This putter should appeal to golfers of all levels that prefer a blade style non-offset putter with solid feel. The American Putters offer the look and feel of an expensive putter but have a price point well below the higher end putters on the market today.
