Innovex RLS

Innovex RLS irons 4-LW, 5-iron 38" length, Accuflex steel shaft in combination flex, and Innovex grip by Lamkin.

Manufacturer's Description
The Revolutionary Loft System (RLS) irons from Innovex Golf are designed to allow golfers to be more distance accurate from a wider range of distances. This is accomplished through the irons loft setup featuring a 5° gap between the longer irons and a 4° gap between the scoring irons. This allows for a more consistent distance progression through the set and greater accuracy in the short irons and wedges. The RLS irons come in an 11-piece set that includes five wedges. The irons are made from soft 431 stainless steel offering a solid feel and lie and loft adjustability. The mid-size, cast cavity-back design provides an extremely stable clubhead while the additional mass of weight behind the face helps maintain feel. The irons have a moderate offset progression to produce a higher trajectory in the long irons and a more penetrating ball flight in the wedges. The irons are available on a "per club" basis with the price for an individual Innovex RLS iron with stock shafts set at a suggested retail price of $75 each in steel (Innovex i-Steel) and $87.50 each in graphite (Harrison Graphite). Custom shaft options include True Temper Dynamic Gold, True Temper TX90, and Fujikura Vista Pro shafts. Also, there is never an up-charge for grips - Innovex grip by Lamkin, Crossline, G3, G3 Quartercord, Permawrap Classic, and Winn Excel XF are all available at no additional charge.

Innovex RLS Review:

Accuracy

Less-Avg-More

We found the Innovex RLS irons to be as accurate as our comparison irons. The irons set up nicely behind the ball. The loft progression between the club works to provide accurate and consistent distance throughout the set. We were able to get dialed in with these irons quickly.
Distance

Short-Avg-Long

The distance of the RLS irons were found to be slightly longer than our comparison sets. While not the longest irons we have tested, the distances produced by the RLS irons are consistent throughout the set. Very rarely did it ever seem that we were in between clubs on a shot.
Trajectory

Low-Avg-High

The trajectory of these irons was higher than our current sets, especially in the long irons. The loft of the RLS 5-iron is 27 degrees compared to our comparison set's 5-iron lofts of 27 and 29 degrees.
Feel

Less-Avg-More

The midsize cavity back design produced a very soft and solid feel at impact. These are among the softest feeling cavity back irons that we have reviewed. The i-Steel steel shaft by Accuflex provides a mid-weight shaft with universal flex. Smooth swings produced a nice click at impact.

Forgiveness

Less-Avg-More

The RLS irons are slightly more forgiving than our comparison sets. The head design allows for a slight margin for mishits with minimal penalty on distance. Severe heel and toe shots were affected mainly in distance loss. We were able to work the ball in both directions.

Looks
The RLS irons are simple in design with clean stampings and minimal graphics. The cavity features a black Innovex medallion that is simple in taste and acceptable from an aesthetics perspective. The stepless steel shaft and clean Crossline Black grip by Lamkin for Innovex completes the understated look.

Summary:
The RLS irons from Innovex Golf are targeted toward golfers of all abilities. They receive high marks for accuracy, value, and overall performance. The head design is simple and uncluttered and combined with the progressive loft system and custom shaft selection makes the RLS irons a worthy candidate in the iron category.
