Hogan Apex '99 Review
Accuracy
More; pinpoint accuracy - heavy head that flushes
through rough and nips off of tight fairways equally as effective. Haven't
made this many birdies in a long time.

Distance
Long; big jump from my Ping i3's. 3 iron is a
solid 220 yards, relieving need for utility club on high end.

Trajectory
Average; workable. Easy to get up, but able to
hit boring shots into the wind as well. I bought the models with the
6.5 Rifle shafts. I had Apex 4 shaft on my 1991 BH Grinds and loved them
- these are even better!

Feel
More; You know when you nail it - you also know
when you tank it! If you need feel and response from your hits and
mishits to validate your existance (like I do) then these are the weapons
of choice.

Forgiveness
Less; basically none, which I like. Spalding
did move some of the weight around internally, I am told, but there
is no cavity weighting here. Not a club for the higher handicapper.

Looks
Beautiful. These clubs to me are art. The traditional
lines and the scalloped backs are fabulous. I keep iron head covers
on mine (Club Glove makes a great set) because I want to keep these
as beautiful as they are for a long time.

Summary
If you are a low handicap golfer or a regularly playing mid handicapper, get
these clubs NOW. My belief is blades will make you a better golfer much faster
than cavity backs. If you want to improve, buy these or like irons and see
your pro for some lessons. It will be the best money you ever spend on the
game (and by the way, I am not a pro)!
