Editor's Note: The following is our initial look at the soon to be released Tour Accuracy TW golf ball from Nike Golf. We have played the original Tour Accuracy on and off for the past year and consider it to be one of the best balls on the market today. We were provided with a sleeve of the new Tour Accuracy TW golf balls at the PGA Merchandise Show and asked to take the Tour Accuracy Challenge. Nike begins a new promotion this month with unique packaging that will offer golfers a chance to test the new TW ball against the original Tour Accuracy. (See Complete Story). This review was conducted with the temperature in the high 50's and a slight breeze. Our reviewer played the front 9 with the Nike Tour Accuracy and the back 9 with the Nike Tour Accuracy TW. GM

Nike Challenge Golf Ball Review:

Prior to hitting the course, we found the most noticible difference in the two golf ball was "feel". Putting on the carpet indoors we could tell a noticeable difference in feel with the Tour Accuracy TW being the firmer of the two. Dropping the balls in no particular order, it was easy to pick the TW ball out without looking.

Playing the Tour Accuracy the front nine, we really enjoyed the very soft feel coming off the clubface on bothe the irons and woods. Hitting full shots and in and around the greens it was also nice as you could get some spin on the ball to check up when needed. On drives and approach shots, the ball really hung in the air compared to the Tour Accuracy TW balls. The softer cover of the Tour Accuracy made it very easy to work as well.

Playing the Tour Accuracy TW on the back nine, from the first tee shot we could feel the difference. Much firmer off the irons and woods with a very low and boring trajectory, this especially true with the driver. The diiference in trajectory made it appear that we had went to a lower loft on the driver on the back nine. We did experience some difficulty in keeping drives in the air with the TW and was actually a little shorter with the irons. Didn't notice a great deal of difference in the spin of the ball on full shots but did notice that it was a little harder to check up the ball chipping around the greens.

Our initial look would indicate those players with slower swing speeds would probably prefer the Tour Accuracy over the Tour Accuracy TW. Those players with higher swing speeds may like the TW as it spins less allowing for a much lower trajectory and less spin on full shots into the green.

We recommend that you take advantage of the special limited time packaging of the two golf balls and take the Tour Accuracy Challenge yourself.
