Tour Edge Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood

Tour Edge Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood #2 model, 18° loft, 39.5” length, with Tour Edge steel shaft in regular flex and Tour Edge grip.

Manufacturer's Description
Tour Edge Golf’s Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood offers a unique approach to the hybrid category as it is sold individually or as a complete set of 3-PW Iron-Woods. The Bazooka Iron-Wood offers a large, forgiving club head with an over-sized top line and wood-like body that provides a easy to hit club with high ball flight. This is enabled by the head design that features a 2-piece, super-thin cast body constructed from the Carpenter Hyper-steel. The face, skirt, and crown are made as thin as possible and then structurally supported with three internal reinforcement strands. This allows a heavy 120 gram sole weight pad to be placed in the sole. The club’s weight and extremely low CG create a higher moment of inertia and a higher flight pattern with increased forgiveness on off-center shots. Currently available, they are offered in men’s and women’s right hand in #1 (16°), #2 (18°), #3 (21°), #4 (24°), #5 (27°), #6 (30°), #7 (33°), #8 (37°), #9 (41°), PW (45°) and SW (54°). Suggest retail price for the Bazooka JMAX Iron-Woods is $89 each in steel and $99 each in graphite.

Tour Edge Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood Review:

Accuracy

Less-Avg-More

We found the Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood to be very accurate. The club is as accurate as any hybrid that we have reviewed to date. It just wanted to go straight. We had difficulty in working the ball consistently with this club.
Distance

Short-Avg-Long

The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood produces more than ample distance off the tee and from the fairway. We used it as a replacement for a three iron and a five wood. Distance is similar to that of a similarly lofted fairway wood but with improved accuracy. The typically high trajectory produces shots with longer carry and less roll.
Trajectory

Low-Avg-High

The trajectory of the Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood is higher than most hybrids that we have reviewed to date. This feature allowed us to make aggressive swings from 200 yards out knowing that the height of the shot would allow soft landings.
Feel

Less-Avg-More

The feel at impact is more similar to that of a fairway wood than an iron. The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood produced a nice click sound. It is well-balanced with a measured swingweight of D1.

Forgiveness

Less-Avg-More

The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood is as forgiving as any hybrid available. The wide sole and large thick body makes the club easy to swing producing consistently straight shots. Slightly off-center hits produced fairly accurate results with only minor distance loss.

Looks
The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood truly resembles a “hybrid” in its distinguishing features. The face and topline resemble an iron while the body and sole are fashioned more like a fairway wood. The offset is ample. At address, the contrast between the iron-like topline and wood-like body is visually appealing enhancing alignment and instilling confidence. The graphics are simple and the fit and finish are of high quality.

Summary:

The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood hybrid from Tour Edge Golf receives high marks for forgiveness, distance, and value. We found this to be an easy to hit club that is very versatile working well off the tee, from the fairway, and out of the rough. We feel that Tour Edge and, in particular, the Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood is one of the most underrated clubs on the market. The Bazooka JMAX Iron-Wood line should appeal to mid to high handicap golfers looking for an entire set of easy to hit game improvement clubs. Low handicap golfers should also look into these hybrids as replacements for their long irons and fairway woods. Tour Edge is one of the first, if not the first, manufacturer to develop an entire #1-SW set of hybrid clubs with the same design.
