All tests were out of 200 votes.
Every driver in each test received votes, which once again proves
there is no “best”, only “best for some swings”.
Each tester voted for a winner in each of the matches. Here are results highlighting the drivers that advanced to Round 2:
Match #1
Tour Edge won with 2/3 of the vote. (i.e. 2 out
of every 3 preferred the Tour Edge Bazooka F-4)
Match #2
MacGregor won by the narrowest of margins with
112 votes compared to the Hog with 88 votes.
Match #3
Cobra received 115 votes compared to 85 votes for
Yonex.
Match #4
Callaway received 113 votes to Cleveland’s 87 votes.
(“Testers” said the Launcher was longer and harder to control)
Match #5
TaylorMade won easily with 163 votes to
Kasco’s 37 votes. (“Testers” noted that the Kasco driver was easiest to
get in the fairway)
Match #6
Nike vs Mizuno was the most interesting of
matches because each manufacturer has developed a strong base of
fans. The overall vote was too close to call so we had to pass both
clubs through to the next round.
Match #7
The war of the “long ball” clubs showed up
between Golf Gear’s Tsunami and the Orlimar Hip Steel. The Tsunami
won 129 votes to 71 votes.
Match #8
Wilson Deep Red was one of the most solid
drivers that the 10-20 handicappers have ever hit. The Stiletto’s
over-promise in their infomercials led to some disappointment. The
Deep Red captured 125-75 of the votes.
Match #9
Ping received 130 votes to Nicklaus’ 70
votes.
Match #10
Titleist’s new driver is so straight and long
it outvoted the KZG by 159-41 votes.
Match #11
Daiwa won the most dependable (In both
distance and direction) beating the Adams Driver 129 votes to 71 votes.
