Srixon @ the 2002 Expo
Srixon Sports USA introduced the new XXIO Driver, XXIO Fairway Woods and Pro UR golf ball. The new driver features a high-COR rating near the new .860 limit proposed by the USGA and R&A. The head is 350 cc in size and has an elliptical shaped sweet spot that goes from high in the toe to low in the heel, a pattern that Srixon states is where the majority of golfers hit the ball. Srixon has been the leader in high technology drivers in Japan for several years with research in high-COR dating back some 20 years. Also introduced is the companion XXIO Fairway Woods offered in a variety of lofts. Srixon's latest golf ball is the Pro UR which already has two professional wins in 2002 (Senior PGA Tour's Instinet Classic, Senior British Open). The ball features a multi-layer design with solid rubber outer core, an inner core called the Energetic Gradient Growth (EGG), that is firmer on outside progressively getting softer in the middle. These two layers helps give the ball a high launch angle and low spin rate. Finally, the ball's cover is an enhanced urethane cover providing improved feel and durability. Srixon also had on-hand at the Expo the I-201 and XXIO Irons which are to be released with limited availability later this fall.
