Titleist NXT Golf Balls
- Titleist recently introduced the new NXT Tour and NXT Extreme golf balls. The NXT Tour is a three-piece design while the NXT Extreme is a two-piece design with lower compression rating. Among the enhancements to the New NXT Tour and New NXT Extreme is a new Staggered Wave parting line that was first utilized by Titleist with the introduction of the New Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls earlier this year. The Staggered Wave parting line effectively increases the dimple surface coverage on the golf ball which contributes to improved aerodynamics and a more consistent ball flight. The combination of the new Staggered Wave parting line, with improved surface coverage and dimple dimension changes, will provide golfers with optimized distance off the driver and long irons, as well as a slightly higher ball flight with both the NXT Tour and NXT Extreme. Also first introduced by Titleist on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls and incorporated into the New NXT Tour and NXT Extreme, is the new Alignment Integrated Marking (A.I.M.) sidestamp, which provides a unique point of difference. The NXT Tour and NXT Extreme model designations have been integrated into the sidestamp and are accompanied by extended arrows on each side of the model name. The A.I.M. sidestamp provides a consistent focal point for golfers to better align their putts if they desire. The acceptance and reception to the A.I.M. sidestamp from golfers who have experienced it has been effusive. Both NXT golf balls are available in golf shops beginning July 15, 2007 with a suggested retail price of $40.00 per dozen for New NXT Tour and $34.00 per dozen for New NXT Extreme.

Ping Rapture Driver
- PING Golf introduced the company’s first composite driver, the Rapture. The Rapture driver features a titanium crown that's infused with carbon composite to reduce weight. That weight is redistributed to the perimeter of the club to lower the center of gravity, increasing launch angle and reducing spin for more distance. Nothing earth shattering so far; other manufacturers have introduced lightweight composite drivers. The problem with most is that they produce a muted sound on impact, more like an old persimmon driver than the metallic twang that golfers expect from metal woods today. So Ping set about making a composite driver that had a pleasing sound. This is a little detail, to be sure, but one that golfers have identified as important to their overall pleasure when hitting a club. And something that is important to Ping, a company named after the distinctive noise that designer Karsten Solheim's early putters made at impact. In addition to weight redistribution and a good sound at impact, the driver has a machined variable face thickness face for the maximum amount of energy transfer from club to ball. Ping's Rapture driver is available in 9, 10.5, 12, and 13.5 degree lofts. The Ping TFC 909D and Aldila VS Proto 65 shafts are both available exclusively in the Rapture; the Ping TFC 100D, Aldila NV 65 and Grafalloy ProLaunch 65 are also offered. The Rapture is also available in Women’s models. Suggest retail price is $475 each.

Ping Redwood Anser Putter
- Introduced and made available earlier this year, the Redwood putter series from PING Golf marks the first completely milled stainless steel putter line. The line is available in three models: the classic Anser and Zing, as well as a mallet, Piper S. The Redwood series is a combination of proven designs and the highest level of quality and craftsmanship. No detail has been left to chance in these putters, which are individually machined out of 303 stainless steel. With slightly heavier heads, (Anser - 340g, Zing - 340g, Piper S - 355g) each putter in the series offers an extremely solid feel with a rich black chrome finish, first popularized by the PING Tour Wedges. Targeting the premium golfer who demands the best, the Redwood series putters debut with a suggested retail price of $280 each. The Redwood name pays tribute to the home of the original PING putter, Redwood City, California. It was here in 1959, in founder Karsten Solheim's garage, where the first PING putters were made. All three putters are available in right-handed models, with left-handed models shipping in February 2007. The Anser and Zing can be custom built to accommodate lie angles of plus or minus four degrees from the standard lie. The mallet, Piper S, can be custom built to accommodate lie angles of plus or minus two degrees from the standard lie.

TaylorMade Burner Driver
- TaylorMade's new Burner® driver is engineered to promote greater distance through faster speed. Faster swing speed. Faster clubhead speed. Faster ball speed. Burner is about coolness and confidence. It's designed for players who prefer to bomb it, crush it, thump it, and grip-it-and-rip-it. Burner looks fast, feels fast and is fast. It's sleek, sexy and powerful. Its astonishing union of size, shape and clubface technology give it phenomenal forgiveness, allowing it to maintain a level of ball speed on mis-hits that most other drivers can't match. Burner brings out distance that players didn't know they had. It finds power reserves that lie within and lights them on fire. Throughout development TaylorMade engineers left no stone unturned in their efforts to eke every last bit of speed out of this club. Burner performance starts with the bullet-shaped head, which wears its 460 cc size beautifully, not awkwardly or clumsily like certain box-shaped drivers. Just as a racecar looks fast standing still, so does Burner, with sleek lines that scream "speed" from every angle. Burner employs what we call "SuperFast Technology" to make the club lighter and faster. That includes an extra-light, 42-gram grip that's eight grams lighter than normal; and a long and light TaylorMade SuperFast RE*AX® shaft that weighs just 50 grams, and which stretches the length of the club to 46 inches. The club's total weight tops out at 299 grams, which is approximately 20 grams less than a typical driver measuring 45 inches and equipped with a 60- to 65-gram shaft. Meanwhile the longer length expands the swing arc. Combine the lighter weight with the wider arc and you get a significant boost in distance. Testing indicates that SuperFast Technology promotes a distance increase of six yards. Not only is Burner extraordinarily fast and long, it's also incredibly forgiving on mis-hits. Its size, shape and strategic weighting create an extremely high moment of inertia (MOI) that makes the clubhead extremely stable and resistant to twisting when impact is made toward the toe, toward the heel, or high or low on the face. That reduces ball-speed loss, which reduces distance loss. Ball-speed loss is also dramatically reduced by TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology (ICT), a revolutionary method of clubface construction that changes the way the clubface behaves at impact, thereby enlarging the portion of the clubface that delivers fast ball speed. With a constant-thickness clubface, ball speed plummets when you miss the center of the clubface, but with ICT you can miss the center of the face without suffering a dramatic drop in ball speed.
Thanks to ICT, Burner delivers an incredibly high degree of what TaylorMade calls "effective MOI," which allows this driver to deliver extremely high ball speed—and distance—even when you don't hit the ball flush in the middle of the clubface. TaylorMade defines effective MOI as the positive influence on ball speed on off-center hits that's exerted by the combined effects of a driver's MOI and clubface technology (versus constant-thickness clubfaces). eMOI in TaylorMade drivers is dramatically higher, and more valuable in terms of its affect on ball speed, than MOI alone, owing to the benefits of TaylorMade's patented Inverted Cone Technology."
How much forgiveness does Burner's extreme eMOI provide? The combined positive effects of its high MOI and ICT allow it to deliver the type of high ball speed and distance on mis-hits that's equivalent to a driver that measures higher than 5800 MOI with a constant-thickness clubface, if not even better.
Adding to Burner's distance advantage is the fact that it's also engineered to naturally promote a high and penetrating draw thanks to the combination of its 1° closed clubface and the flex, flex-point and torque of its .350-tip shaft. Additionally, a permanent weight cartridge located in the middle-back of the sole pulls the CG deep and low into the head, making Burner easy to launch high and long. The cartridge also allows TaylorMade to cleanly and precisely adjust the club's swingweight at the factory.
Burner also comes in a TP version. Differences include slightly shorter distance from the front to back of the clubhead, a 1° open clubface, a slightly shorter length (45.5") and an ultra-light 50-gram RE*AX® TP shaft with ROMBAX and a .335 tip, by Fujikura. A heavier, 65-gram shaft by Graphite Design is also available. Unlike the Burner, which is draw-biased, Burner TP is engineered to promote a neutral ball flight.
"One more valid point needs to be made, and it concerns sound," said Vincent. "TaylorMade's design goals include making the best-sounding drivers in the business. It's not easy to produce great sound, otherwise nobody would discuss it. How a driver sounds is especially important to good players, and another reason why TaylorMade drivers are so popular among tour pros. The Burner and Burner TP each sound solid, strong and sharp at impact, like the crack of a whip."
The bottom line, however, is that the Burner and Burner TP are built for speed. Both promote faster ball speed, and faster ball speed equals longer distance. You get higher ball speed when you hit the center of the clubface, and high ball speed when you don't. Fast all the time. Long all the time. Cool and confident look and attitude. That's Burner. Available in three lofts; 9.5, 10.5 and HT, and three shaft flexes; S, R and M, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $360. Burner TP is available in three lofts; 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5, and three shaft flexes; X, S and R, at an MSRP of $499. Availability at retail starts February 23 for Burner and March 20 for Burner TP.

Titleist 907 Series Drivers
- Titleist recently introduced the launch of its new 907D1 and 907D2 models. The 907D1 driver features a triangular design high that features a high moment of interia (MOI). Moment of interia in this regard refers to the clubhead’s ability to resist twisting at impact (increased stability). So the higher the MOI, the more resistance to the clubhead being rotated around the shaft. The lower MOI, the less resistance. Ultimately the intent is to produce a straighter ball flight. The 907D2 provides enhanced MOI for increased distance with workability, allowing the better player the ability to produce a draw or fade. The 907D2 features a traditional round profile design. Both the Titleist 907D1 and 907D2 drivers incorporate a multi-material design that utilizes a cast 6-4 titanium body, a high speed beta titanium face insert, and a CNC machined hosel. The cast body utilizes thin crown walls to optimize weight distribution. In addition, the crown and hosel shapes have been designed to be more weight efficient. The face insert is tapered from top to bottom, making it stiffer down low which provides for higher launch and lower spin. The 6061 T6 hosel is mechanically fixed into the crown, saving weight internally. Both models feature a gloss black paint finish. The Titleist 907D1 and 907D2 drivers are currently available with a suggested retail price of $500. In store price should be $399 to $450 each.

Maxfli Fire Golf Ball
- Maxfli Golf, a brand of the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company, has introduced a remarkable new three-piece golf ball called Maxfli Fire. It is designed to combine blazing ball speed for exceptional distance with soft feel and outstanding greenside performance. Yet Maxfli Fire offers fantastic value because it's priced like a two-piece ball, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of just $20 per dozen - about five dollars less than most competitive three-piece balls. Maxfli Fire was created for golfers who think of themselves as mavericks, unafraid to deviate from the mainstream. In fact, they prefer to be different. They follow their hearts, not the crowd, and happily choose products with personality and energy over the staid and traditional - though not at the expense of performance. What makes Maxfli Fire special (besides its great price) is its HPF 1000 SpeedMantle, which works with the high-energy core to elevate the COR all the way up to .815. High COR equals blazing ball speed, which promotes tremendous distance. Testing proves that SpeedMantle is 7% faster than the mantle materials used in most competitive balls, yet it feels 24% softer. Besides excellent speed, distance and feel, Maxfli Fire's multi-layer construction promotes tremendous spin performance. Its three layers work together to reduce spin off the driver and flatter-faced clubs to promote increased distance. However, the spin-rate increases dramatically with the middle-irons and peaks with the short-irons, resulting in terrific shot-stopping power on approach shots. Maxfli Fire also features an orange alignment stamp that's shaped like flame; a super-cool touch that will have players nodding their heads and smiling. The thin-yet-durable Surlyn® cover (one of the thinnest among competitive models) contributes to this ball's great feel and also makes it easy to access and activate the power of the SpeedMantle, even for players with slow swing speeds.

Cleveland CG12 Wedge
- Cleveland Golf, the makers of the most famous wedges in the game, is pleased to introduce the latest addition to their wedge family, the CG12 wedge. Made from 8620 carbon steel, the CG12 wedge combines the classic design of a Cleveland wedge with advanced manufacturing processes, which have led to the latest breakthrough in wedge technology known as ZIP Grooves™. This new ZIP Groove technology has given the CG12 wedge the biggest and most precisely milled grooves ever offered in a Cleveland wedge. ZIP Grooves are milled to maximum conforming dimensions using a proprietary CNC mill bit that creates envelope-stretching geometry for added shot consistency. During the manufacturing process, each Zip Grooves’ integrity is maintained by the application of a proprietary coating for added protection throughout the critical face sandblasting phase of production. The CG12’s unique milling process not only helps to optimize spin but also gives players of any level improved distance control. Their larger groove volume, which helps channel more debris than wedges with traditional grooves, allows for increased club face contact with the ball. These new Zip Grooves, coupled with an innovative plating process, has made the CG12 wedge into Cleveland Golf’s most consistent, precise and visible wedge technology to date. The CG12 wedge will begin shipping on May 18th, 2007 and will be listed at the minimum advertised price (MAP) of $109.

Cleveland CG Red and CG Gold Irons
- Cleveland Golf recently introduced their latest lines of CG RED and CG GOLD irons. The CG RED and CG GOLD irons have combined Gelback™ Technology and next generation Micro-Cavity Technology (MCT) to offer players of all levels increased benefits in the areas of feel, forgiveness and fit. Cleveland Golf's newly patented Gelback Technology consists of a lightweight, visco-elastic, vibration-dampening material, which is placed directly behind the hitting area of the clubface in the back cavity of the iron. Gelback is vibration-tuned to remove unwanted vibration on mis-hits while still allowing the player the necessary feedback from the clubhead's soft yet responsive feel. The superior I-beam structural design of this next generation of MCT helps provide the highest strength possible to the topline of these new CG RED and CG GOLD irons. The stiffer topline allows the face to remain undistorted and square through impact for more consistent and accurate shots. Impact vibration waves are also shortened by MCT, thus giving these irons a much more solid feel compared to traditional iron designs. This latest version of MCT not only provides added stability and forgiveness but also allows these irons to boast a 15% increase in their center of gravity (CG). This improved CG has been achieved by redistributing 10 grams of weight to lower and deeper locations on the clubhead. The CG Gold is an all-ability iron perfect for the player who wants to maximize forgiveness while still maintaining a solid feel in a traditional head design. High and low handicappers alike are drawn to this club's performance. The CG Red "Tour Spec" iron is the preferred option for Cleveland Golf's Tour staff. With a classic "player" profile, this club fits the eye of the accomplished golfer. Once determined if CG RED or CG GOLD irons are the ideal fit for a player, the set can be furthered dialed-in using color-coded hosel markings that denote if the irons' lie angle are flat, standard or upright. Designed with Royal Precision flighted technology, the new CG GOLD steel shafts provide an exaggerated change in kickpoint within the club set which helps control ball flight. The long iron shafts are designed to launch higher and provide more spin to keep the ball in the air longer. As the set transitions into the short irons, the ball flight becomes slightly more penetrating to provide increased accuracy and maximum spin for control. Currently available, the CG RED irons' suggested retail price is $699 and the CG GOLD irons is $599 (steel) and $699 (graphite).

TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad Driver
- Taylormade Adidias Golf introduced the original r7 quad driver nearly three years ago. That driver was a 400 cc driver with four cartridge ports and 26 grams of movable weight. The new r7 SuperQuad has just been introduced and combines the power and forgiveness of a 460 cc clubhead with the ability to promote changes to the launch angle, spin-rate and trajectory. The driver features Movable Weight Technology (MWT) that allows players to dial in specific sets of launch conditions to optimize their The clubhead is finished entirely in a deep, rich black, including the clubface. Yellow accents on the sole, similar to those on the r7 425 and r7 460, offer a visual contrast. The r7 SuperQuad is engineered for players who prefer to assess and calculate before launching the ball, who enjoy tweaking their equipment in attempts to optimize their equipment and eke the absolute most out of their physical abilities. The SuperQuad's MWT gives players the ability to choose from six CG locations in one driver. They can raise or lower their launch angle by 1.5°, making a 9.5° driver behave like an 8° or 11°. It promotes a lateral change in ball flight of up to 28 yards -- 14 in either direction. That's the width of an average fairway. At 460 cc, the SuperQuad's MOI is inherently high. Plus, it receives an MOI boost from the weight of the four ports and cartridges concentrated in the heel and toe areas. The benefit of high MOI is that it keeps ball speed and distance high on mis-hits The SuperQuad features the 65-gram TaylorMade SuperFast RE*AX® shaft with .350 tip by Fujikura. Four flexes are available: X, S, R and M. The r7 SuperQuad is available in four lofts – 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5°. Its clubface alignment is slightly closed and its CG is exceptionally low, making it a great option for players in the Improving and Skilled category. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the r7 SuperQuad is $499. The driver is currently available. Also available is the r7 SuperQuad TP which features a 1° open clubface alignment and a higher CG location. It includes six movable MWT cartridges (two 1-gram, two 12-gram, one 10-gram and one 14-gram) that make 102 CG locations possible, 18 at standard swingweight. The MSRP for the r7 SuperQuad TP is $725. Also available is the r7 SuperQuad TP 1st Edition featuring 10 MWT cartridges that make 978 CG locations possible, 30 at standard swingweight. | Seemore mSeries Putters |
- The SeeMore Putter Company introduces the mSeries line of putters. The new putter series combines the beauty, precision, accuracy, and feel of 100% milled heads with the proprietary and proven alignment benefits of SeeMore’s RifleScope Technology ( RST). The mSeries, the first new products under SeeMore’s new leadership team, includes three distinctive models to appeal to different player’s putting preferences and styles: The m1 is a classic heel/toe blade with center shaft; The m2 is a classic heel/toe blade with heel shaft; The m3 is a classic mallet with center shaft. SeeMore’s patented RST, known by a visible gun sight on the topline, allows the golfer to set up the putter perfectly each and every time in relation to the intended target line. | KZG GF 460 Driver |
- KZG recently introduced its new GF 460 Driver, incorporating Gravitational Force (GF) Technology, which features two strategically-positioned weight portals and a selection of screws in seven different weights. The GF 460’s swingweight, launch angle and draw/fade bias can be adjusted in a total of 128 ways to optimize any golfer’s launch conditions. The titanium GF 460, a slightly larger model than the KZG GF 4 driver, is designed for golfers whose swings are consistent and who seek optimal
power for their games. The weight portals are positioned deep inside the head, where changes in weight and center of gravity are most effective. The weight selections, which include 1.5, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 grams, are designed to be adjusted only by professional clubfitters. It has been found that many golfers adjust weights every time they mis-hit a drive; as a result, they can’t determine the correct
positioning for optimal performance and launch. KZG’s GF 460 removes the guesswork, as a professional clubfitter will ascertain the proper weight combination for any particular golfer, leading to confidence and consistency. The retail price of the GF 460 is $439 in graphite and $409 in steel.

With these new drivers Nike Golf has evolved the innovation of geometric design to bring golfers even more distance, forgiveness and accuracy through new record levels of moment of interia (MOI). Named SUMO for the SUper MOment of Inertia created by its geometric designs, the SQ SUMO² and the SQ SUMO sport the same distinctive yellow soleplate as the original SQ. Now even more visually distinctive due to its square head design, the SQ SUMO² features golf's highest MOI of 5300. This advanced MOI is created by the geometric square design combined with the utilization of a multi-material construction. A deeper beta titanium face, a titanium body and a composite crown combine to bring about material weight savings that are redistributed into the square design, making the driver hotter, longer and more responsive. As such, the square geometry dramatically enhances the SQ PowerBow and SQ Max Back Center of Gravity (CG) technologies, which work together to increase MOI. The SQ SUMO, which features an all-titanium head, incorporates the same design evolution of the SQ PowerBow and SQ Max Back CG, raising its new super MOI to 4950, the highest in an all-titanium driver. Nike Golf's club wizard Tom Stites' new design has created the ideal ratio between the width of the clubface and the depth of the club head. As with the SQ SUMO², the SQ SUMO geometry pushes the breadth-to-face length ratio up, resulting in a larger, more forgiving sweet spot. The SQ SUMO² and the SQ SUMO are both 460cc, feature SasQuatch/Diamana shafts, are available in 8.5º, 9.5º, 10.5º and 13º and will carry respective suggested retail prices of $479.99 and $359.99. Both the SasQuatch SUMO² and the SasQuatch SUMO will be shipped in mid-January 2007, to be available for purchase in golf shops and stores nationwide on February 1, 2007.
